I partook in some involuntary servitude today in order to help my parents do the mulching for our entire front, side, and back yards. It was a grueling and traumatizing experience, however some good came out of it. I found some wee flowers (probably weeds) that were pretty attractive. This little yellow guy here is about as small as a fingernail, and quite a looker.
Close-up, flower pedals always appear to have sparkles on them. I love that star-shaped center too. Most importantly, taking pictures of this flower gave me about a five minute break from shovelling mulch - glorious.
This view of the flower makes a nice background. Want one? Choose your size:

I've loved trains ever since I was a little guy. I finally got around to taking some pictures of my old H-O scale train sets. They still work just fine after being untouched for a decade or so. My favorites were a little red trolley (a la Mister Rogers) and a black steam engine.
I have no idea what was in the background of this image to give it the nice black background, but it sure turned out very well. All I used were the flourescent lights in my gameroom and a desklamp which gave the image its shadows. That's a box car in the background resting on the tracks. Though it's hard to see in this picture, the distance between the Santa Fe behemouth and the box car is covered entirely with parallel tracks.
Yes, I totally played with the trains in between taking pictures...

It's another beautiful day in the neighborhood, so I thought it fitting to post another lovely photo from the front yard. Dandelions are crazy, no? Technically they're weeds and no one really likes having them in their yards, but I think they're kinda crazy in a good way. I don't mind them so much, especially when they are all furry and wishy.
But seriously folks, if you just wait until the sun is low in the sky and then go out to take pictures, it's pretty easy for the mundane to look beautiful. So that's what I did, late in the evening right before the sun was below the horizon (magic hour), I went out and captured the glory that is my front yard. Enjoy.

I'm home now. I litterally had a field day in my front yard during this beautiful May weather. It's good to be home, but I'll be heading back to State College soon to do some work for Apple.
I was taking pictures of a variety of vegetation in the yard, and while I was snapping some shots of a dandelion wishy thing, I exhaled to hard, and blew the dandelion apart. I thought I had lost the shot, but the wishy things looked cute in the grass, so here you go: wishes on the front lawn.

Here we have a photo of the Washington Arch in Washinton Square Park. You'll find this at the NYU campus in New York City, right around Greenwich Village - one of the coolest parts of NYC.
I snapped this shot while I was on my NYC day trip with Carolyn, touring a video production studio and exploring Manhattan. This is the arch at night, taken with a monopod and something steady to lean against. The way the arch seems to be set against a perfectly black background is pretty stunning. The lines are very crisp and sharp. It's funny how it reminds me of the photos I took of the chess pieces and Ralph José. It's funny because those objects are so miniscule compared to this one, but in the photos it looks like I took their photos in the same studio.
This arch appears in Ghostbusters 2, and also looks a lot like a mini Arch de Triumph (the one found at the end of the Champs Elysées in Paris, France).
