C'est un symbole vraiment français: La tour Eiffel, or as we call it, the Eiffel Tower. I visited France once in my life, right before eighth grade. I had just began learning French the year before. Paris definitely captured my heart. After travelling there, I was certain I would end up living and serving as the US ambassador to France. I read up on its history, culture, Napoleon, and les fromages! I've been eager to go back for years. It would be nice to study abroad there.
This is my mini-Eiffel Tower. Picked it up in Charles de Gaulle airport on my way out of Paris heading for Madrid. This knick-knack and a picture I took of the Seine River are my two souvenirs from my city.
Did you know they hold classical music concerts on the Eiffel Tower? Tickets to that would definitely make my life. Ladies? I'd marry you.

and her swooping white whiskers
curious Julie
Julie is an explorer. She and her nose are a regular Lewis and Clark duo around the house. She wants to know what's going on at all times by answering the door when the doorbell is rung. This also involves her rubbing her nose and face against any new object or person that enters the house. You can see more of her here.
Julie "Juju" is my cat. I've been trying to take her picture for years, but she absolutely hates the camera. When I take her picture, it is with the understanding that she will not be speaking to me for the rest of that day. As soon as she sees the camera coming, she does her best to never sit still. She sits still just long enough for me to frame the shot, but as soon as she sees my shutter finger ready to take the shot, she decides its a prime opportunity to bathe herself or lick the camera lens. Yesssss. Julie can be quite the diva. I don't get offended though, because when I'm not taking her pictures she's still the sweetest and cutest little girl around. She also has the longest cat whiskers I've ever seen in my life and has a fear of the accoustic guitar (sorry John Mayer).

a token of affection
on my window sill
An ungiven hold-over from Valentine's Day, this flower is currently hanging out on my window sill lapping up the sun during the brief daylight hours and is a witness to the antics of Drew and me during the night hours. Ohh, if flowers could talk, this one would probably tell you I have a girly laugh and a bizarre sense of humor.
Normally I wouldn't photograph an imperfect flower (this one has some withering edges), but I think it fits this concept of a gift that never reached the object of affection for which it was intended. It's lost some of its beauty in more than just the physical sense.

has yellow fuzz all over
hops across my desk
I picked Ralph up a couple weeks ago when Drew's brother and father were in town. I was looking for some props for a video I was making, and I came across Ralph while the four of us were downtown at a random store. Ralph looked pretty cute, and he hopped like crrrazy if you wound him up. The little guy loves to launch himself off the edge of a desk or table. He doesn't just stumble off though, he actually leaps off the edge. It's quite a performance.
Meghan came up with his name, however there is an ongoing debate as to the spelling of his second name "José." She insists it's Hosé, but I'm sticking to José. Ralph has yet to express a preference one way or the other.

I love the look of a music box. I love the way it is hand cranked and produces sound without electricity or speakers. The concept is so simple: vibrating, resonating metal tangs. plucked like strings on a cello by revolving picks. Spin the crank and you're making music! Hold down the box into a firm piece of wood or furniture listen to that sound resonate now! No iPods, MP3s, speakers, or wires - just hand-powered metal on metal.
I picked up this box while in Spain. I've been trying to take a couple good photos of it for months, and I finally got some to turn out to my liking. This box sings "La Vie en Rose." What better song is there for a simple music box?

enjoying a sunny day
he's melting away
During one of the craziest weekends ever, I filmed a short abstract video with my sister called The Dreamcatcher. It was one of four videos in a series I had to create for an abstract video project in art class. This image comes from a series of over one thousand photos I had to take to complete the video's stop motion sequences. My sister was kind enough to let me do this over the course of half of her weekend. This image is one of the key icons from of the piece and appears several times within it.
This photo was taken near the end of this snowball's life. It was rapidly melting in the bright sun outside of my house as my sister held it with sopping wet mittens. This guy was losing consistancy rapidly, so I was forced to skip some of the sequence I intended to capture before this guy completely fell apart. His facial features kept falling off as the snow around them melted. This last scene I had to capture became an excercise in fast photography.
